Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the construction work of 4 new medical colleges in Assam at Biswanath Chariali, Charaideo, Goalpara and the second one in Guwahati. Rs 2050 crore would be spent for the construction of the medical colleges.
The women colleges will be constructed in Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Barpeta, Nagaon, Goalpara, Darrang, Bilasipara and Golakganj. Rs 303.3 crore has been approved for the colleges for women.
Sonitpur, Tinsukia, Majuli, Chirang, Udalguri and Baksa will get six new degree colleges. Rs 100 crore has been approved for the construction of the degree colleges.
10 New Law Colleges 10 new law colleges will come up in Diphu, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Silchar, North Lakhimpur, Rangia, Bilasipara, Tihu, Roha and Jorhat. Rs 33 crore has been approved for this project. Construction work to start by December 31, 2020.
Traffic congestion to ease in Tezpur and Maligaon. State PWD will construct two flyovers in Maligaon Chariali and Tezpur. Rs 420.75 crore has been sanctioned for the Tezpur flyover.
Rs 321.41 crore has been approved for the Maligaon Chariali flyover. Foundation stone was laid on October 10, 2020. 10 road corridors will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2,626 crore.
