A high-level meeting of the Vice Chancellors of the State Universities of Assam was held on Nov 30 under the chairmanship of Prof Pratap Jyoti Handique, VC of Gauhati University. Assam Govt’s Education Adviser Prof Nani Gopal Mahanta graced the occasion along with the VCs of the state universities.
The Gauhati High Court has directed the State Govt not to take further action for the time being based on the result declared recently by the APSC for selection of appointees to 162 posts of Veterinary Officers and Block Veterinary Officers, Class-B, Class-1 (Junior Grade) under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department.

The Centre has appointed Debajyoti Dutta as the Director of Census Operations /Director of Citizens Registration, Assam. A communication from the Department of Personnel & Training, Govt of India, to the Assam Chief Secretary stated that the tenure of appointment will be from the date of joining the post up to Dec 31, 2025 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

A 16-year-old worker engaged in the six-lane construction site at Basistha Chariali died due to electrocution on Nov 29. The deceased has been identified as Kuraban Ali of Goalpara. Meanwhile, Basistha Police has arrested contractor Ramzan Ali based on a complaint lodged by the family members of the deceased youth.
The tutors who were appointed from primary to higher secondary school level in 2021 have appealed that they should be granted the status of teachers during the Winter Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly which will commence on Dec 21.
