Indian spinner R Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket after the third Test against Australia in Brisbane. The announcement was made during a post-match press conference alongside skipper Rohit Sharma.

Ashwin retires as India’s second-highest wicket-taker in Tests, with 537 wickets in 106 matches, only behind Anil Kumble (619). He was instrumental in India’s rise to Test dominance between 2014 and 2019.

While stepping away from international cricket, Ashwin will continue playing T20 tournaments, including representing Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025 season.

When one turns to look at his dominance in the home conditions, he was a phenom. His expertise wasn't just limited to the ball but also some impactful contributions with the bat.
