The Finance Ministry reported on Saturday that the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) handled 15,547 crore transactions totaling Rs 223 lakh crore from January to November of this year.
The ministry stated in a social media post on X that the UPI transaction figures demonstrate the platform's transformative impact on financial transactions in India.
India's digital payments revolution is gaining international traction, with both UPI and RuPay rapidly expanding beyond borders.
Currently, UPI is available in seven countries, including the UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, and Mauritius.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) launched UPI in 2016, which has transformed the country's payment ecosystem by combining multiple bank accounts into a single mobile application.
