BLACKSWAN is a K-pop girl group under DR Music that debuted in 2020. Currently, the group is composed of five non-Korean members. The group consists of members from different parts of the world: NVee from the United States, Gabi and Leia are from Brazil, Sriya is from India, and Fatou is a Senegalese-Belgian. Despite this diverse background, BLACKSWAN has made a name for themselves in the K-pop industry with their music and performances.
In 2018, a K-pop girl group called Honey Popcorn made its debut with the mini album "Bibidi Babidi Boo" under the label Kyun Create. What sets them apart from other Korean-based groups is that all of their members are Japanese, which breaks traditional norms. The group comprises Yua Mikami, Moko Sakura, Ruka Tajima, and Sara Izumi. Despite the controversy surrounding their past careers, Honey Popcorn has managed to amass a significant following in both Korea and Japan.
In 2017, the K-pop boy group EXP Edition made their debut with the single "Feel Like This". What makes them stand out is that all four members are non-Koreans, which earned them recognition as the first-ever non-Korean idol group in the industry. The group was formed as part of the "I'm Making A Boy Band" project by Bora Kim, Karin Kuroda, and Samantha Shao. Although some K-pop fans have been critical of EXP Edition, the group has managed to overcome the challenges and establish a loyal fanbase.
TEMFIVE is a K-pop girl group that made history as the first-ever all-Filipino group in the genre. The name "TEMFIVE" is an acronym for "Touching people's heart emotionally and mentally." The group consists of five members: Sarah, Rayna, Robie, Jyrrah, and Katy. They debuted in the Philippines in August 2016 with their first Korean song, "Miracle." TEMFIVE gained traction in the industry by performing at various prominent venues in South Korea, including the Korean Celebrity Basketball League in 2017. Additionally, they have organized numerous fan meets and events throughout the country.
Comprising of members Nicole, Coco, Dani, and Chunseo, KAACHI was a British girl group signed to FrontRow Records. The group made history as the first-ever European K-pop girl group, debuting in South Korea on April 29, 2020, with their digital single "Your Turn." Although marketed as a K-pop group, KAACHI faced considerable criticism and backlash. The group faced criticisms related to their non-Korean heritage and limited proficiency in Korean culture and language. Unfortunately, on February 28, 2023, KAACHI officially disbanded.
