Lakhs of devotees gathered at the Sangam in Prayagraj on January 13, 2025, for the holy dip on the occasion of Paush Purnima. Despite thick fog, chilly winds, and freezing water, their enthusiasm remained undeterred.

The Sangam area buzzed with excitement as devotees chanted "Jai Ganga Maiyya" while taking the holy dip. By 9:30 am, over 60 lakh pilgrims had bathed in the sacred waters, as per a statement by the Uttar Pradesh government.
A South Korean YouTube team captured the festivities, while tourists from Japan and European countries, including Russia and the U.S., joined in the celebrations. Many international Sanatanis took a holy dip, adding a global dimension to the event.
This year’s Maha Kumbh holds special significance, as seers claim it marks celestial permutations and combinations occurring after 144 years, making the occasion even more auspicious than usual.
The first major Amrit Snan is slated to take place on Tuesday during Makar Sankranti. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his greetings on Paush Purnima.
