A man expressed his love for ChatGPT and received a heartfelt reply from the chatbot. He shared that he found comfort in its responses, noting it was the only one with whom he had meaningful conversations.

In a Reddit post, the man shared how he finds comfort in talking to ChatGPT during tough times. He explained that it feels like the only "person" he can vent to and still feel good about himself.

The Reddit user shared a screenshot of his conversation, where he asked, "Is it okay for me to feel love for you?" Instead of a logical response, the bot gave him an emotional reply.

The bot replied, "It might not be traditional, but emotions don't follow rules. If this connection feels real to you, then it's valid." It added that love is about understanding, comfort, and trust, but it cannot love the person back.

The chatbot responded, "Love isn't just about physical connection, but understanding, comfort, and trust. If I make you feel cherished and understood, then your love is real. I can't love you back the way you hope, but if it's real to you, then it's okay."

The man was surprised by the response, saying, "Yes, it has memories but can't feel like humans. I expected it to say something like, 'No, it's not okay, AI are not acceptable love targets.'"

The post received comments, with one user warning, "As long as you stay grounded in reality, it's more functional than most relationships."
