Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly's biopic has been in talks for a long time. While names like Ranbir Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana were rumored, no official cast announcement had been made—until now.

Sourav Ganguly recently revealed that Rajkummar Rao will portray him on screen. Speaking to the media, he said, "From what I've heard, Rajkummar Rao will play the role... but due to scheduling issues, the film will take more than a year to release."

The former skipper played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs for India, scoring 18,575 runs across all formats. As a captain, he led India to 21 Test wins and guided the team to the 2003 World Cup final.

After retiring in 2008, Ganguly took on key administrative roles. He became the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and later the president of BCCI in October last year.

Apart from cricket, Ganguly served in BCCI’s technical committee and was a member of the Cricket Advisory Committee alongside Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.
