For the first time, Rashtrapati Bhavan will host a wedding on February 12, 2025. President Droupadi Murmu has approved the ceremony, recognizing the dedication and service of CRPF Assistant Commandant Poonam Gupta.
Rashtrapati Bhavan is the official residence of the President of India and hosts foreign heads of state during official visits to the country.
President Droupadi Murmu has approved the preparations, but the guest list will be limited and exclusive, with only close relatives and friends attending the wedding.
CRPF Assistant Commandant Poonam Gupta, currently serving as the President's personal security officer, will marry fellow Assistant Commandant Avneesh Kumar, who is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir.
President Murmu, impressed by Gupta’s service, has approved the wedding to be held on February 12 in the Mother Teresa Crown Complex at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Gupta, a highly qualified officer, holds a bachelor's degree in Maths, a postgraduate degree in English Literature, and a BEd from Gwalior's Jiwaji University. She ranked 81st in the UPSC CAPF exam and was previously posted in a Naxal-affected area in Bihar.
