A US military plane carrying 104 Indians deported for illegal immigration has landed in Amritsar. The C-17 aircraft took off from Texas and marks a significant step in President Donald Trump’s crackdown on undocumented migrants.

Since taking office, Trump has intensified efforts to deport illegal immigrants. The latest deportations come as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his first US visit since Trump’s re-election.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs has stated that the country opposes illegal immigration due to its links to organized crime. The Indian government has been cooperating with the US on immigration enforcement.

Reports suggest that India and the US have identified over 18,000 Indians who entered the US illegally. The deportations are part of a broader effort to return undocumented migrants to their home countries.

President Trump claimed that PM Modi assured him that India would "do what’s right" in taking back illegal Indian immigrants. This agreement is shaping US-India immigration policies.

How Deportations Are Being Carried Out

The Trump administration has been using both commercial flights and military aircraft for deportations. Military planes have also been used to deport migrants to Latin American countries.

According to reports, many of the people deported under Trump’s administration were initially apprehended during the previous Biden administration.
