Virat Kohli has become the fastest batter to score 14,000 runs in ODI cricket, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record. He achieved this milestone in just 287 innings during India’s Champions Trophy 2025 match against Pakistan.
Kohli shattered Tendulkar’s record by 63 innings. Sachin took 350 innings to reach 14,000 ODI runs, while Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara needed 378 innings to reach the mark.
Kohli reached the milestone by hitting a boundary off Haris Rauf. He went on to score his 51st ODI century off 111 balls, helping India secure a six-wicket win against Pakistan.
India’s bowlers set up the victory by bowling out Pakistan for 241. Saud Shakeel top-scored with 62, while Mohammad Rizwan made 46. Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav led the Indian bowling attack.
India’s chase was guided by Shubman Gill (46), Shreyas Iyer (56), and captain Rohit Sharma’s attacking shots before he fell to Shaheen Afridi. Kohli’s century sealed the win.
With two wins in two matches, India is in a strong position for the semifinals. Meanwhile, Pakistan, after two losses, is on the verge of elimination from the tournament.
