Mangaldai Police arrested anti-CAA activist in IT Act CASE

MANGALDAI: Mangaldai Police, on the basis of an FIR lodged by arrested Associate Professor Rupa Rani Bhuyan, on Thursday arrested former journalist Zamser Ali (48), son of Zumar Uddin of village Kawatika under Bijni Police Station of Chirang district, in connection with Mangaldai PS case number 246/2020 under section 120(B)/294(A)/153(A)h /500/506 IPC and read with section 67 of IT Act.

He was produced before the judicial court on Thursday evening. The judicial court remanded him to judicial custody in Mangaldai District Jail. According to the police, Zamsher Ali also played a key role in the anti-CAA agitation and was closely involved with an organization called Justice Forum of Assam and has links with many national leaders like Teesta Setalvad and Harsh Mander.
