PATHSALA: A woman was duped of Rs 41,000 by a fake caller who claimed to be from the State Bank of India (SBI). Kabita Roy of Chaki village of Bajali subdivision registered a complaint at the Patacharkuchi Police station in this regard recently. "I have a bank account in the Pathsala branch of SBI in my husband's name. As he lives outside Pathsala, I operate the account," she said.

"A person pretending to be an SBI officer from Delhi called me and asked me to give me the ATM number of my husband's account. He said that if I don't give the number then the account will be freezed," she added.

"Out of panic, I gave away the details and when I visited the branch later, I found that Rs 41,000 had been deducted from the account," Das wrote in the complaint. "I request the police to take immediate action and trace the culprits and arrest them," she added.
