60 year old 'Sexual Predator' arrested for raping 7 year old Minor in Sonitpur

Dhekiajuli: In a shocking incident, a 7-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by a 60-year-old man at Gaiwaiya village in Jahamari area of Borsola constituency under Sonitpur District.

As per reports, there was no one was at home on the day of the incident, thus, taking advantage of the situation, the accused identified as Arun Nath carried out this shameful incident.

Following the incident, Thelamora police arrested the accused and a case was also registered at Thelamora Police Station with case vide no 94/19 under section 506 of the Indian Penal Code and RW/section 4 of the POCSO Act.

About Section 506 in The Indian Penal Code

U/S 506, Punishment for criminal intimidation—Whoever commits, the offence of criminal intimidation shall be punished with imprison­ment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both; If threat be to cause death or grievous hurt, etc.—And if the threat be to cause death or grievous hurt, or to cause the destruction of any property by fire, or to cause an offence punishable with death or 1[imprisonment for life], or with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, or to impute, unchastity to a woman, shall be punished with imprison­ment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, or with fine, or with both.

About R/W Section 4 under POCSO Act

Under r/w section 4 of the POCSO Act, the prescribed punishment is imprisonment for either description for a term which shall not be less than seven years but which may extend to imprisonment for life, and shall also liable to fine.
