8 Indian tourists including 4 children hailing from Kerala die from asphyxiation in Nepal

NEW DELHI: Eight tourists, all hailing from Kerala were found dead during their stay at a resort in Daman area of Nepal.

The two couples and four children allegedly died out of asphyxiation as they had turned on their gas heaters and shut the windows and doors.

The Kerala Chief Minister's Office said the state has established contact with the Indian embassy in Kathmandu. “Based on the direction of Kerala CM, the Department of Non-Resident Keralites Affairs (NORKA) is in touch with the Indian embassy in Nepal. It is expected that after autopsy, the bodies will be brought to Kerala tomorrow,” the CMO said, according to media reports.

The incident took place while the group was on their way back to Kerala.
