Army organizes awareness meet on pollution

KOKRAJHAR, June 7: Unit of Red Horns Division and local school children came together on World Environment Day to fight against the ever increasing menace of pollution, with the theme being chosen as ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, in different places of Kokrajhar. The morning witnessed various activities being organized all over the district of Kokrajhar, Assam, such as painting competitions organized at Gitanjali School, Saralpara along the Indo-Bhutan border in Kokrajhar and at UN Academy, Kachugaon, Kokrajhar. Around 100 students of Grace English Medium School, Balamjhora, Kokrajhar participated enthusiastically in a poster-making competition.

Rallies were also conducted at Patgaon and Kokrajhar town, participated by around 400 children and teachers of Ramfibil Higher Secondary School and at Kokrajhar town by more than 100 students and teachers. A motivational lecture was also conducted at Ramfibil Higher Secondary School and Patgaon High School to raise awareness about the continuous and steady degradation of the environment, associated health hazards and easy to follow preventive measures. This was followed by a tree sapling plantation drive by the school children. A total of 1000 students from various schools attended the same, in collaboration with the Army.
