Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali will compete Amul; launches cow milk, milk products, also French fries

Baba Ramdev's consumer goods company Patanjali Ayurved on Thursday ventured into the dairy segment as it launched packed cow milk and other milk products.

The company in addition to this brought out frozen products including mixed vegetables, peas, and French fries. The Indian FMCG major has priced packed cow milk at Rs 40 per litre.

Patanjali Ayurved has already entered into the market of cow whole milk powder and cow ghee and. Mother Dairy, Amul, are some of the few major companies in this market.

The company is also preparing to enter the apparel and footwear segment in the upcoming days. Patanjali is one of the fastest growing consumer goods company in India and the company has a network of around 56,000 retailers and aims to generate Rs 1,000 crore revenue by 2020 with these additional products. The company targets to get Rs 500 crore from dairy products in this fiscal itself.

As stated by Patanjali, the company produced 4 lakh litres of cow milk on the first day of its operation itself. Patanjali will shortly start selling milk in tetra packs and have future plans to sell flavoured milk as well.

The company would directly obtain milk from the farmers through its network and would encourage products from India-based breeds. During the launching event, Baba Ramdev said," Our milk would be cheaper than other established brands by Rs 2"

Patanjali also introduced packaged drinking water under the brand name of 'Divya Jal' in different pack sizes and has plans to launch natural mineral water and herb-infused water. The products which will be available at Patanjali stores from today are- Dairy products (Cow milk, curd, chach, paneer), Cattle feed and feed supplements, Frozen vegetables: Peas, Mix Veg, Sweet Corn, Potato Finger, Solar Panels and Divya Jal.
