Dreaded drug Mafia Dressed up as Woman surrendered before Golaghat Court

Golaghat: Well, it might look like a sequence of a Bollywood movie, but, yes it’s a true fact that one of the prime accused and dreaded drug mafia dressed up as Woman surrendered before the Golaghat Court today morning.

The dreaded drug mafia identified as Jojo alias Mrinal Gogoi surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court.

Notably, Jojo has allegedly running drugs business since long in Golaghat district.

On June 9, a student Sanjib Goswami died in Jojo's resident. Later family members of Sajib Goswami raised allegation that the student was murdered by the drug mafia.

Several organizations till today staged protest against the drugs and demanding to arrest drug mafia Jojo who was absconding since June 9.

Today surprisingly Jojo surrendered at Golaghat court. Meanwhile, drug mafia Jojo has been arrested and he is under police custody.

After several demands and protest against the drugs smuggling in Golaghat, the Golaghat police carried out an operation against the drugs paddler.

On Wednesday, three women from Furkating area were arrested for their alleged involvement in selling and running drug business in the area.

The women are identified as Mirfa Begum, Hasma Begum and Mubhfina Begum.

Police also seized around 2 kg of Marijuana, 8-gram brown sugar worth Rs 59, 000, Two motorcycles, 10 mobile handset and 30 judicial stamp papers from their procession.

It may also be mentioned that the Superintendent of Police of Golaghat, Pushpraj Singh, appealed to the protestors to extend their full help and cooperation to the police so that he can wipe out the drug cartel in the area.

He also urged the parents to keep a vigil on their wards so that they don’t fall into the trap of drug peddlers.

A memorandum was also sent to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to amend the existing anti-drug laws with provision for severe punishments.
