‘India and Assam progressing rapidly under BJP government’

LAKHIMPUR, June 26: “India, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has witnessed unprecedented progress during the past four years of the NDA government. The Prime Minister has realized the challenge of ensuring the overall development of the nation working towards its strength and prosperity. Similarly, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is leading the State towards development rapidly and successfully,” claimed Kishore Upadhyay, the secretary of Assam State BJP in Lakhimpur on Tuesday.

Addressing a press meet held by the State BJP and its Lakhimpur unit at North Lakhimpur Press Club on the occasion of the completion of four years of the Narendra Modi-led Union government and two years of the Sarbananda Sonowal-led State government, the secretary of the State BJP applauded both the governments for their relentless work guiding the nation as well as the State towards the transformational change in governance. He stated that both the governments had left no stone unturned with regard to raising the standards of living of every section of the society, particularly the poor, the needy, the economically marginalized, the tribals, the youths, the farmers and women. He further added that expected success was achieved in this regard and the whole country, especially the State of Assam, was developing in all sectors.

In the press meet, the party put forwarded a 28-fold record of developmental activities conducted in Lakhimpur under the rule of the BJP government. He said that embankment of 18.240 km was constructed in the district with an investment of Rs. 4,842.37 lakh during the last two years. Various developmental activities were conducted through the Ministry of Minority Development with an investment of Rs. 28.49 crore. It was also mentioned that Rs. 7351.60 lakh for the construction individual household latrines under Swachh Bharat Mission, a fund of Rs. 25.56 crore to 2,331 SHGs of the district, Rs. 1164.70 lakh under Untied Fund, Rs. 123 crore for the building of Lakhimpur Medical College and Rs. 1000 crore for the construction of the Institute for Agricultural Research at Gogamukh were already released in the district.

On the contrary, the media persons of Lakhimpur pointed out the major problems of the district which the common people face, like the dilapidated road conditions, the non-operational of health and diagnostic facilities at North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital, the non-operational of Woman ITI, Lakhimpur Planetarium, flood and erosion, unemployment problem and lack of infrastructure for self-employment. Further, a 31-fold record of the developmental activities administered across the State was also disclosed by the party.
