Kidney Patients in Assam to get free 'Hemo-Dialysis' under "Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme"

Guwahati: The Government of Assam is all set to provide free Hemo-Dialysis to the patients suffering from kidney related diseases under the "Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme".

Addressing a press conference at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that in the first phase the Government of Assam had selected around 8 centres where free Hemo-Dialysis will be provided to patients suffering from Kidney disorders.

State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also mentioned that in the first phase, the Dialysis centre under Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme would soon be operational at SMK Civil Hospital, Nalbari on June 14, 2019.

Similarly, after Nalbari, under the PMNDP, Dialysis Centres will be operational in Mangaldai Civil Hospital in Darrang on June 15, Kanaklata Civil Hospital in Sonitpur on June 16, Tezpur Medical College and Hospital in Sonitpur on June 17, LGB Civil Hospital in Tinsukia on June 18, Morigaon Civil Hospital on June 19, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College in Barpeta and Bongaigaon District Hospital on June 20.

It is to be noted that the repair and renovation work is under progress at 7 more facilities and will be made operational in the second week of July 2019, in the second phase following hospitals are included:

BP Civil Hospital in Nagaon, Sivasagar Civil Hospital, North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital, Dhemaji Civil Hospital, Diphu Civil Hospital, Dhubri Civil Hospital, Goalpara Civil Hospital.

Another three facilities namely: Jorhat Medical College, Karimganj Civil Hospital and Golaghat Civil Hospital will be taken up immediately after the completion of the work of second phase facilities.

A total of 105 Hemo-Dialysis machines have been allocated for 18 centres across Assam. Till now, 45 Hemo-Dialysis machines are installed at 8 Nos of facilities.

It may also be mentioned that the Hemo-Dialysis Centres under PMNDP will run in 18 locations in Assam in Public Private Partnership mode. M/S Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, Chennai has been chosen through a detailed selection process by National Health Mission, Assam to implement the Dialysis Programme in Assam.
