RANGIA, May 23: Rangia Anchalik Students’ Union, with the help of Rangia subdivision Students’ Union, protested against the soaring price of diesel and petrol at Rangia near the ASTC bus stop on Wednesday.

Protesters shouted slogans against Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and burnt his effigy. Hemanta Das, secretary of Kamrup District Students’ Union, Toufikar Rahman, education secretary of Rangia Anchalik Students’ Union, demanded that the prices of essential commodities, including petroleum products, should be decreased soon as people were suffering. Unless that happens, they would be compelled to launch a series of agitation programmes soon, said the two student leaders.
