Teachers' Day 2018: 9 teachers from Northeast receive National Award for Teachers

Guwahati: In a proud moment for the northeastern region, 9 teachers from the seven northeast states have been awarded the National Award for teachers for the year 2017.

Except for Meghalaya, teachers from all the states of the northeast have been presented with the prestigious award.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu presented the National Awards for 2017 on today at a function at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also communicated with the National Teachers' Awards beneficiaries.

Sutapa Sur from Tripura, Sashanka Hazarika, from Darrang, Assam, Murugan, an arithmetic and science instructor in Nagaland, Motilal Koirala, Mamta Awasthy and Karma Chomu Bhutia of Sikkim, Lutni Perm, Headmaster of a school in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, GS Zaithantluanga from Mizoram and Khangembam Indrakumar Singh from Manipur have been awarded with the National Awards.

Sikkim drove the route by sacking 3 grants out everything being equal.

The honor includes a citation, a silver decoration and a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

It might be specified that the Ministry of Human Resource Development as of late changed the rules for the determination of teachers for National Awards. As per the revised guidelines, a teacher should have a minimum experience of 15 years for consideration into the National Awards.
