NABARD’s organizing State Credit Seminar for Financial Awareness

GUWAHATI: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), is the Development Bank of the Nation, is committed to rural prosperity through its manifold activities.

On February 17, NABARD is organizing its State Credit Seminar. To strengthen the initiatives of the Government of India and also the State govt., NABARD has aligned its activities to promote sustainable agriculture through financial and developmental activities and financial inclusion of the excluded population. Some of the on-going activities supported by NABARD include rural infrastructure development, creating Financial Awareness through Awareness Camps, promoting Farmers’ Producers Organizations, SHGs/JLGs, institution development, facilitating activities in the rural non-farm sector, etc.

NABARD, Assam Regional Office every year prepares and publishes the State Focus Paper (SFP) containing aggregated potentials for credit deployment as also the identified infrastructure that may be required for enabling the credit flow in our State. The major sectors include crop production, Agri-allied activities, Agri-Infrastructure, Ancillary activities, MSME sector, Education & Housing sector and Export Credit, Social Infrastructure & others. The prospect of Dairy, Poultry, Horticulture, Water Conservation, and Fishery sectors are outlined in our State Focus Paperconverging into a State Credit Plan for the bankers.

On the developmental front, NABARD has been relentlessly initiating various activities under its SHG/JLG Bank Linkage program. stated a press release.
