

GUWAHATI: The 20th National Conference of Neurodevelopment Paediatrics Chapter of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (NCDP 2023), in collaboration with the Assam State Body of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, concluded in Guwahati. Over the course of three days, from October 6 until October 8, this landmark conference hosted a series of scientific deliberations and pre-conference workshops.
A total of 240 registered delegates hailing from 23 states across India have converged at NCDP2023, joined by 109 paediatricians, nurses, and mental health experts from various districts of Assam, facilitated through the collaborative support of UNICEF, NHM (National Health Mission), and AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), Guwahati.
Distinguished national experts, numbering 61 in total, are at the forefront of the scientific sessions, shedding light on critical topics such as early intervention for neurodevelopmental disorders, the imperative for proactive collaboration in NDD care, and the impact of nutrition and vaccinations.
Dr. Shabina Ahmed, the Organizing chairperson of NCDP2023, stated, “The conference’s strategic focus lies in the ‘5 P’s—patient, parent, primary care giver, and proactive participation—aimed at bridging the gap in caring for children with special needs.”
The AIIMS Guwahati, where workshops are being conducted, witnessed the participation of over 194 delegates, and the occasion was graced by Dr. Ashok Puranik, Executive Director, and the Dean, Medical Director of AIIMS. Dr. Sourabh Duwarah, the organising secretary, expressed his satisfaction at witnessing the subject receive the attention it rightfully deserves in the Northeast. The conference also welcomed Padmashree Patricia Mukhim, a renowned journalist, who underscored the importance of family-centred services in the context of child healthcare, stated a press release.
