A letter to Google CEO

Dear Mr. Pinchai,

It's honour to see you as CEO of Google and also would like to tell you that, it's my first and foremost letter to you with no little hopes that you will look into my letter or would go through it from my website, rather would implement my dream of including the Assamese language in the list of Google translation.

After India got its independence from 200 years of English rule, it consists of several dialects and languages the people spoke. Thereby, to decipher the total number of languages present in the nation the government conducted its census in the year 1961 and was found that there are 652 languages in India. So, we can also assume that standing in the calendar year of 2020 the number of dialects and languages has increased to some approximately 19,567 which are considered to be our mother tongues.

Though according to the Indian Constitution there are only 22 official languages present under the Eighth Schedule, and the Google translation list consists of 9 languages.

Mahendra Kandalaya was an Aryan poet who translated the Saptaa Kanda Ramayana in the Assamese language. People know about Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who was the founder of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, but very few know about Shankardev, the one who spread Vaishnavism among the people. He is the one who first started Bhaowna, he produced a famous dance drama namely Cihna Yatra where he did paint the 'Sapta Vaikuntha' in a piece of cloth. He was such a person who did write a poem without the use of vowels. Let's give a glance to the first two lines of the poem

'Karatala Kamal

Kamala dala nayana

Bhawa dawa gahana

gahana bana chayana'

In the year 1923 Dr. Ambika Giri Rai Choudhury sang the song 'Aji Bondo Ki Chondere' in the get-together of the Congress which took place at Pandu, Guwahati. The song was so popularized that people thought to make the song as the 'National Song' if 'Vande Mataram' wasn't created.

The film Joymati which was created in 1935 where there was no infrastructure for doing the movie but the film was done by creating a stage – by Jyoti Prasad Agarwala.

Apart from them, we cannot forget the legends Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami, Pratima Baruah Pandey, and others for their contribution to the Assamese literature.

In spite of having the rich variety in term of literature, culture, etc still my people is in dark. The inclusion of the Assamese language in the 'Google Translation' would help my statement to know about the happenings going around them they can also develop...

I know, it's a huge demand from my end... No worries. I don't expect anything from your end, still tried...
