Abide by Secular Values

A long legal battle has come to an end and this is definitely a historic moment for the country. The apex court’s ruling in favor of a Hindu temple on the disputed ground in Ayodhya and alternative land to be given to Muslims to build a mosque has brought an end to the most divisive issue in the country on grounds of religion. Although the verdict seems fair enough, there should have been punitive action against those who demolished the Babri masjid in 1992, sparking massive Hindu-Muslim violence that left almost 2,000 dead. We laud the efforts of the police, security personnel and all other authorities who worked tirelessly in maintaining order throughout the country during this period. Now it is time for citizens of our country to abide by the secular values of our Constitution and uphold the spirit of fraternity by maintaining communal peace and harmony.
