Amazon of East is in Danger

The Amazon of Assam is under threat. The rainforest of Assam is also referred to as Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary. It is the largest rainforest in India. It is the habitat of many species, endangered flora and fauna. "The world has enough for everyone's need, but not enough for everyone's greed," said Mahatma Gandhi.

On April 7, 2020 the NBWL has allowed coal mining at Saleki in Gehing Patkai. But, illegal coal mining has been going there for many years affecting the biodiversity. We should protect wildlife and at the same time protect our nature. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate (MoEF & CC), GOI has accorded environmental clearance for extension drilling & testing of hydrocarbons at seven locations under Dibru Saikhowa National park area, North West of Baghjam PML in district Tinsukia, Assam by M/S Oil Limited.

The Amazon of East nourishes many souls in her womb. It's easy to dig but hard to fill, it's easy to kill but hard to feel, if nature can create us, it can also destroy us, if we don't have the forest we don't have the future. Our future is in our hands and also for the next generation with this we have to save Mother Earth. The Chief Minister of Assam has directed Minister of Environment and Forest Parimal Suklabaidya to visit Dehing Patkai for taking stock of the present condition. The global pandemic has already taught us that humans are nothing because nature is above all as we can't breathe in a world without the existence of flora and fauna. It's high time we opened our eyes and looked around.

The effort of 'The forest Man' Jadav Payeng which he has been doing for 40 years will go in vain. The virgin forest land is screaming for help. We need to save the Amazon of Northeast.

Many have been trending in social media with hastags #IamDehingPatkai, #Stopcoal mining, #Saverainforest, #Save our nature. Let join our hands and be the part of it to save the Amazon of East while developing Assam.
