App for child rights

App for child rights

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw public attention to the positive approach of the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) towards involving and empowering citizens in saving children from the clutches of abusers and offenders. It launched a mobile application called ‘Sishu Suraksha’ on 14th November last on the occasion of Children’s Day. The app was launched by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister for Social Welfare Pramila Rani Brahma. It enables users from all over Assam to login and lodge complaints at the commission without hassles whenever they encounter any violation of child rights. This e-complaint box is part of a mission to ease the challenge faced by people in getting their complaints registered, or at least to make them aware of where to approach whenever any such incident takes place. The commission’s initiative will hopefully strengthen efforts to combat child trafficking and violence across the State. So far, Assam ranks highest among Northeastern States for various crimes against children. According to a report by ASCPCR, till November 10, 2019, a total of 125 cases have been registered in the State this year of crimes against children. With the use of this technology, the problem of many child trafficking cases going unregistered will be solved and agencies will find it easier to track the culprits.
