Dhoni: The legend

All the good things have to come to an end and that is exactly that happened in the case of MS Dhoni. Fondly called as 'Mr. Cool' for keeping his nerves steely during the toughest of times, the flamboyant cricketer would be remembered for lifting and scaling newer heights in international arena. Be it behind the wickets or in front of the wickets with willow he rescued Indian team in so many difficult situations. Who would forget his decision to promote himself up the batting order in the 2011 ICC World Cup final against Sri Lanka and what happened next is history. The decision to bowl rookie Joginder Singh in the final over the ICC T20 World Cup when rival captain Misbah ul Haq was exhibiting batting pyrotechnics. We still remember his sudden decision to relinquish test captaincy and hand over the reins to young Virat Kohli. The Ranchi born leader achieved everything in his illustrious career, he even surprised his fans who were predicting a comeback from the legend by springing another jolt by calling it quit on the auspicious day of 15th August.

Dhoni, unlike some of the former greats never became a burden on the team. Instances are galore when some of the greats refused to retire merely just to achieve their personal milestones. Even during his last days in international duty he guided present captain Virat Kohli in crunched hours. At the same breathe I pay my tribute to another champion of Dhoni's era Suresh Raina who too announced his goodbye to international cricket. The three-time ICC trophy winner Mahendra Singh Dhoni would be definitely missed on the field.
