Explosion in OIL's well

It is really very unfortunate that foreign experts flown into Baghjan to douse the fire at Baghjan oil well of Oil India Limited were injured due to an explosion which occurred in the gas well in the afternoon of July 22, 2020. The injured foreign experts have been admitted to the hospital. Uncontrolled gas had started leaking from the Baghjan oil well from the morning of May 27, 2020. When experts from OIL and ONGC could not control the gas leakage help from foreign experts was sought. Yesterday's incident occurred when the experts from Alert Disaster were preparing for capping of the gas well. The operation for capping the well has been temporarily halted due to the incident. The fire which is continuing for almost 44 days has damaged property in the nearby villages and the biodiversity of the area. However, the experts were nearing the final stage when the incident occurred. The incident will further delay OIL's target of controlling the fire and more damage to the biodiversity is likely.
