India’s pitiable employment

India’s pitiable employment

We could notice with concern about the employment policy of our Union government and the figure that comes to the fore is astonishing. Compared to number of new appointments made during the tenure of the NDA at the Centre, the number of employees retrenched in the private sector crossed several a lakh, particularly in the automobile sectors. A few government owned companies are on the verge of privatization like Air India. Merging of nationalized banks also does not carry good omen for the unemployed youths of India. Certain nationalized banks, it is reported in the newspapers, are running with shortage of staff. (In a lighter vein, we call this ‘SOS’) Summing up, we must opine that the BJP could not rise to the occasion as per promises made in their manifesto-projecting a ‘rosy picture’ of maximizing employment avenue. Now, coming to our BJP-run state, the employment scenario is gloomier than what it is in the all India level. We are surprised to note that the results of APDCL interview are yet to be published despite the fact that almost one year has elapsed. The delay in publishing the result is mysterious. Was there any ploy to bring it to the like of Naba Kumar Doley’s R&D interview where result showed appointment of the relatives of ministers. It is the misfortune of our people to live under the rule of such corrupt (?) government. Now, the latest statement of our Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary that it is sheer due to ‘agitation’ in Assam, industrialists are reluctant to come here. It seems the ministers is shedding crocodile tears thinking about the future of 21 lakh unemployed youths of Assam. The figure will increase with taking Bangaladeshi Hindus as Indian citizens. In fact, no minister can spell out the exact number of such citizens. When our youths are suffering from unemployment running from pillar to post for a mere job, we magnanimous people take more burden of foreign nationals, let the fate of our own youths go to the dogs. It is for the BJP to explain to the people who voted them to power.
