Is this democracy?

After every five years, we the electorates queue up to vote so that the best deserving candidate gets elected and serve us well. But in reality, nothing happens on the ground of course, barring a few who have stood with the people and served well. The real boon or fruit of the democracy is compromised when the elected representatives start to serve his/her personal ambition ignoring the voters. The present crisis in Rajasthan is an indicator in this regard. Those MLAs who have won on Congress tickets suddenly ditch the people and then the blame game begins. Those representatives who are supposed to frame policies and laws for the betterment of the people become involved in the internal squabbles for power. Same scenario was witnessed in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh. Even in Assam during the last tenure of Tarun Gogoi government, invaluable time was wasted due to internal rebellion in the ruling party.

The candidates who generally purchase votes from some gullible voters itself become purchasable commodities after they are elected. It pains us to see those MLAs being tied and caged in some luxurious resorts so that rivals don't poach them. Is this democracy?
