KRP Training for Teachers

The SCERT, Assam, in collaboration with the NCERT, New Delhi started the 1st batch of five-day training of 250 KRPs and 50 SRPs on 10th October 2019 at Cotton University, Guwahati. Prof. Amarendra Behra of NCERT, New Delhi highlighted the modus operandi and importance of NISHTHA for school teachers. Mr. Shamsher Singh, IAS, MD, Samagra Shiksha Assam and Ms Sewali Devi Sharma, ACS, Additional Secretary to the Government of Assam, called upon the KRPs to leave no stone unturned to bring the state in the list of best achievers.

Prof. Nilima Bhagawati, a former professor of Gauhati University and one of the guests on the occasion, focused on working with nishtha (sincerity) to make NISHTHA fruitful.

NISHTHA is a capacity building programme for 'Improving Quality of School Education through Integrated Teacher Training'. It aims to build competencies among all teachers and school principals at the elementary stage. The functionaries (at the state, district, block, cluster level) shall be trained in an integrated manner on learning outcomes, school-based assessment, learner – centred pedagogy, new initiatives in education, addressing diverse needs of children through multiple pedagogies, etc.

As many as 1,255 KRPs and 251 SRPs will be trained in five batches by a 15-member National Resource Group constituted by Government of India for imparting training to 1,83,776 teachers of the State by 31st January, 2020.

This well-designed programme emphasizes minimization of transmission loss on the one hand and strengthening monitoring mechanism by using digital platforms on the other. The NCERT has developed a dedicated portal for the programme where each and every teacher mobile and email IDs are uploaded. Teachers can upload activities and good practices for the benefit of others across the country. This capacity building programme is unique in a sense that it is the largest training programme till now.

It is believed that sincere involvement of the Director of SCERT Assam, Dr. Nirada Devi, Mr. Ravindra Kumar Mishra, Programme Consultant and team NISHTHA engaged in this endeavour shall bring success along with pushing cheers into the cheeks of lovely children of Assam.

Ravindra Kumar Mishra,

Guwahati.
