Pollution Control Board

Pollution on vast atmosphere of this planet is out of sight of the general public. The impact of diseases as a silent killer on all creatures and plants by pollutants having airborne type with micro dimension cannot be overlooked in coming days while sky-high industrial growth to the maximum limit prevails. Spectrum of important views are interacted in Geneva Convention by 34 countries, including European countries in 1979 and 1983 under which protocol to the subject is laid down for effective operation in the entire world. In-depth studies by writers in newspapers are rarely seen to serve the agony of the public. Present Pollution Control Board of the State requires much needed improvement to rise to the occasion instead of the go-as-you-like attitude. Public in general should see the activities in newspapers so that improvement through suggestion by an expert body can contribute a lot in this direction. Upgrading of instrumentation by up-to-date modern equipment to cope up with the present situation as well as exchange of training at interstate level can be looked into by the authority. Junior officers working in the department are to be promoted immediately as per cadre list selected earlier as they lose the steam on serving several years in the same post. This will induct the spirit of work culture for better progress of work. Resulting vacancies can be filled up by fresh appointments after observing necessary formalities. The honourable Prime Minister is also trying his best in relentless effort to create avenues for job amongst young generations against the backdrop of huge unemployment in every sphere. I also earnestly request the honourable Chief Minister and the Minister concerned to generate fresh appointments against the resultant vacancies so that glaring image of the government at party level is upheld. Nowadays corruption in every department is an open secret in public domain. Input of field staff must be crosschecked by authorised body through timely meeting so that every loopholes of corruption played by industrialists by influencing the field officers can be apprehended for strict action. Heads of the department should be selected by an impartial experienced body so that selected person having in depth study on pollution contributing to the national and international protocol can reflect his efficiency with energetic zeal. In this regard a landmark effort is to be taken by the State government sincerely otherwise this important subject will be obliterated. Now question is who will open the Pandora's Box to connect the dots to have right direction. Concomitant views of the readers / writers are eagerly awaited for the best interest of the state. Lastly let us cherish in our hearts the echo of the ever-lasting and thrilling words of Martin Luther King 'Greatest tragedy of mankind is not brutality of few but silence of the many'.

Aadhaar card in Assam

There are reports of taking money in the name of issuing Aadhaar cards in many places in Assam. According to reports, a section of government employees take Rs 200 to Rs 1,000 from people who approach them to get Aadhaar cards. There are also reports that those who do not pay money are denied Aadhaar cards. I request the State government to pay attention to such reports.
