Death anniversary of Bhupen da

On 5th November, the death anniversary of Bhupen da (Dr. Bhupen Hazarika) is celebrated with various programmes in different parts of the State as well as abroad. It is a good thing. We will show true respect for him if we understand the songs of Bhupen da and apply them in various aspects of personal and social life. It is a fact that many do not understand the meaning of his songs. Therefore, it is far from being able to make the songs more intimate and apply them to personal and social life. The meaning of the song is not understood because many people do not know how to read and write Assamese and the number is increasing day by day. It is better to make sure that everyone can read and write Assamese, it does not matter in which medium they are studying.

Plight of patients for X-ray

I went to Biswanath Chariali Civil Hospital on October 29 for an X-ray of my hip. There were several patients for the same purpose. The radiographer was very busy, as he alone had to take the doctor's prescriptions from patients and do the X-ray. As a result patients had to wait for a long time. There is no provision for senior and elderly patients to get their X-rays done early. Again, I went to the hospital on November 2 for getting the X-ray report. Then also I had to wait for long a time. Being a senior citizen I would like to request the authorities concerned of the hospital and Health and Family Welfare Department to provide assistants in X-ray rooms and make provisions for senior citizens to get preference in such matters.

Putul Sarma,

Biswanath Chariali.
