Corona, yoga and ayurveda

Corona is an unprecedented and unanticipated pandemic that engulfed the entire world. The humanity was not at all prepared to face such a disaster. Coronavirus was already there but its mutated form COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) has really crippled the entire globe. Whether it is a man-made disaster or a natural phenomenon is yet to be ascertained.

The medical science says that antibodies can save the human body from antigens. Resistance of the body can save the human body ailing from various diseases. Regular practice of asanas and pranayams strengthens the body immune system. Particularly Ujjayi, Bhastrika and Kapalbhati pranayamas strengthen the body immune system. Coronavirus attacks the respiratory system, weakens it leading to the person's death. The consumption of oxygen increases by 24.5 per cent and 18.5 per cent respectively during Ujjayi and Bhastrika pranayams respectively. The consumption of oxygen increases by 14 per cent during Kapalbhati. While the respiration rate increases by 3 breaths per minute after Ujjayi and Bhastrika, it increases by four breaths per minute after Kapalbhati.

Yoga and Ayurveda are the two sides of the same coin. Yoga practitioners follow Ayurveda. Ayurvedic medicine Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia) boosts immunity, treats chronic fever, fights respiratory system, and reduces asthmatic symptoms. Therefore, it is helpful in combating corona as well. Tulsi (Basil) is a natural immune booster, helpful in flu, respiratory complaints – a preventive herb against corona. The recovery rate of corona patients in India is higher than those of the USA, Spain and Italy. The reason may be the food habit of Indians which include natural food rather than junk food. The Indian food habit, including traditional herbs, boosts the immune system.

Disguised farmers

There are some people who can really disguise themselves according to the situation. Megha Patkar, Yogendra Yadav and Akhil Gogoi, to name a few, call themselves farmers. These so called leaders parachute whenever they see the condition is ripen and they disguise themselves as farmers. The ongoing anti-farm bills with the support of Opposition is gradually being exposed just like last year's anti-CAA agitations. The middlemen of States like Punjab, Haryana in particular who are worst hit by the passage of farm bills along with the leftists, Samajwadi Party and Congress are instigating the gullible peasants. This same formula was applied by the opposition (combo pack of Congress, TMC, leftists, etc) even during the anti-CAA agitation. The plan of spreading misinformation works for a while but ultimately at this jet age every false information is exposed.

Abdicating responsibility

The primary responsibility of any government is to maintain internal law and law and order and protect its territory from external aggression by enemy countries.

People of the neighbouring States - Nagaland, Mizoram etc forcibly encroached upon the territory of Assam with the help of their respective governments, and destroyed reserved forests with impunity by the miscreants. But the Assam government is totally unconcerned and is busy in election campaigns. Thus, the aggressors are committing crimes without any resistance from our side. Before a few days our CM apprised the Central government of the crimes committed by the Mizo miscreants. Astonishingly, the Centre advised the Assam government to maintain peace on the border areas. But the peace initiatives must come from the encroachers.

I would like to appeal to the Union Home Minister not to allow the border dispute to continue indefinitely. As the dispute is now not an ordinary law and order problem, the Union government must interfere and if needed, impose curfew on the entire occupied area, dismantle the illegal constructions, and save the reserved forests. In short, the government must give a message that crime without punishment is not the order of the day. All encroachers should be immediately driven out from the occupied area and a message should go for all.

Paramananda Bora,

Guwahati
