Fight against COVID-19

The decision of the USA that it would not export raw materials needed to produce COVID vaccines to other countries will have a serious impact on the production of vaccines in India. Without raw materials, India would not be able to manufacture vaccines. The number of persons contracting COVID-19 in India has been rising these days. Hence, India has a responsibility to manufacture COVID vaccines to cater to more than a hundred crore people. In the absence of a sufficient number of COVID vaccines, India's vaccination drive will be slower. The pandemic caused by the outbreak of Coronavirus is a global problem. As such, there is a need for cooperation between the countries in the world. If possible, one country should help another or other countries. Every country in the world must produce COVOD vaccines as much as possible. To remain safe from Coronavirus is now the common aim of the people in the world.

A trying time

In the wake of surging COVID-19 cases in the country in general and Assam in particular it is the utmost responsibility of all stakeholders, including political parties of all hues and the citizens to make united efforts to combat the pandemic. It is binding upon the citizens to compulsorily wear masks, hand sanitizing and keep physical distancing in public to avoid contacting coronavirus easily and also for the eligible ones to follow the latest requirement of vaccination. Except for urgent need, citizens should avoid going out. It is also not the time for the opposition in the political spectrum to indulge in bashing and attacking the Government and the Prime Minister. All news broadcast on the television channels can ill afford to create hype on shortage of corona medicines and oxygen shortage as it is a big challenge to maintain adequate supply at times due to the exponential rise of corona cases in this global outbreak. Though all news connected with the corona situation deserve to be focused but repeated news broadcast with a gory picture of burning dead bodies on the TV screen 24X7 may become a cause for depression for the affected families. Discretions need to be exercised fairly. Yours etc.,

Pannalal Dey,

Guwahati
