Congratulations Lovlina Borgohain

Lovlina Borgohain made us proud by qualifying for the welterweight (69 kg) category in Women's Boxing for the summer Olympics to be held in July and August in Tokyo. In the way, she became the first female sportsperson from Assam to qualify for the Olympics. Participating in the Olympics is every athlete's dream and winning a medal is the wildest dream one could ever dream. Karnam Malleswari from Karnataka became the first female athlete from India to secure a podium finish when she won the bronze medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the 69 kg event in weightlifting. In the following years Saina Nehwal (Bronze), PV Sindhu(Silver), Sakshi Malik (Bronze), and MC Mary Kom (Bronze) won medals. From the perspective of a country like India, this list is too small and God willing we can add Lovlina Borgohain's name into that elite list. Lovlina Borgohain who hails from a humble background from a village between Borpathar and Sarupathar belt has the blessings of the people of the State to excel in the quadrennial event. I feel sad for sprinter Hima Das and pugilist Shiva Thapa (two-time Olympian) for failing to qualify for the biggest show on the earth.

Dirty ploy of Digvijay Singh

The controversial Congressman and loyalist of Sonia Gandhi's family, Digvijay Singh is again back in news but not for any good reasons. He revealed a vicious dirty ploy of the Congress party. He said that if Congress comes back to power in 2024, it might reconsider the decision of abrogation of Article 370. That's not surprising from a person like Digvijay Singh and his masters. Their heart always beat for Pakistan. Oxford University-educated Mani Shankar Aiyyar promised Imran Khan that Congress would work hard to throw Narendra Modi out of PMO so that the latter cannot harm Pakistan. Today Congress only thinks of Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Pakistan, Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas.

In 2010, when Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister, the Congress government freed as many as 25 hardcore Pakistani terrorists including Shahid Latif as a goodwill gesture. In 2016, the jehadi name Shahid Latif plotted and executed the Pulwama attack.

Kangana's mouth

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut said that she is unable to pay her income tax dues as she has no work. Maybe, she doesn't have any assignment at present. But what happened to her past earnings? Why does she always love to make a foolish controversy? Would anyone believe that she is living from hand to mouth?

Price rise

The price rise of essential commodities across the State has left people frustrated. The mini lockdown is already hitting the pockets of the general public hard. Due to reduced or short business hours, the public is not earning enough. The price rise is a hard blow on people's purse. Prices of eggs, vegetables, meat, fishes, edible oil, etc have skyrocketed. The price rise is the only complaint we have against the newly formed government under Himanta Biswa Sarma. In this regard, the concerned Food and Civil Supplies Minister response to the problem is very poor. I through your daily appeal to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to immediately tackle the price rise issue.

Chotu Nath Boro,

The Forest Man

It is great news for us that Jadav Payeng, popularly known as 'Forest Man of India' is all set to undertake a new mission in Mexico by signing an agreement with Foundation Azteca, an NGO which aims to plant 7 million trees in that country. He will also share his rich experiences with the youths of Mexico and will also take part in the environment summit to be organized by that NGO this year. It is a great honour to Payeng who has dedicated his life to taking care of Molai Woods – a forest area of around 550 hectares of land, which is located along a barren sandbar of Majuli. From 1979, he has been planting saplings and transforming the wasteland into a heavily wooded area. This Padmashree awardee is a great man for his incredible works and tireless contributions towards the green mission of Assam.
