Lockdown norms violated in Rangia

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the kind attention of the authorities concerned about the increasing violation of the lockdown rules and regulations fixed by the government at the India Gate Bazaar of Rangia. The India Gate Bazaar located near the Rangia Junction Railway Station is a daily market where all kinds of vegetables, fruits, fish and meat products are sold. Normally, half of the vendors in the market are tribal women and youth who before the lockdown used to come by train from places like Rangapara, Harisinga, Rowta, Udalguri, Tangla with their fresh locally produced vegetables and fruits. The passenger train services have been suspended amid the nationwide lockdown called in wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, thus their movement these days has completely been restricted. However, a large number of local vendors belonging to Rangia and its adjoining areas are regularly selling their products violating the lockdown norms. They maintain no social distancing, sanitization and other necessary norms. A large number of regular customers, taking advantage of the relaxation and hence contributing to the violation, has added fuel to the fire. This violent carelessness of these buyers and sellers has increased the chances of community spread of COVID-19 in Rangia and its adjoining areas. Therefore, the authorities concerned are hereby requested to treat the matter as urgent and ensure zero violation of the lockdown norms and all other necessary precautionary norms fixed against COVID-19 in the entire town of Rangia and its nearby areas.
