Menace of stagnant water in Changsari

Through your esteem daily I want to draw the attention of the authority concerned regarding the stagnant water problem in Changsari due to lack of a proper drainage system. Artificial floods due to stagnation of rain water are a big threat for the people of Changsari. This problem has emerged since the construction of the four-lane highway snaking through it. As the highway is elevated and the major drainage channels are obstructed during earth filling, it leads to stagnation of rain water in this locality, leading to submersion of most of the households and market places. It not only affects the day-to-day works of people, but an unhygienic environment is created everywhere which may turn it into a hub of various microbial and water-borne diseases. Moreover, most of the works like earth-filling of the water sheds in the name of construction process are going on haphazardly keeping aside the water drainage chapter from mind. The monsoon is a threat now for the people of Changsari. Hope, the authority concerned will take appropriate step to solve this water-logging problem as the town is going to be an important hub of Assam with the ongoing construction of AIIMS and many educational institutes.
