NH 31 Dhubri-Gauripur stretch becomes death trap

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the tiol Highway Authority of India as well as the State government regarding the deplorable condition of  tiol Highway 31 from Gauripur of Dhubri district  to Bilashipara comprising places like Alamganj, Panbari, Monglajhora, Sonkosh, Mashpara, yahat, Saraguri area of Bagribari, Bangalipara, Beltoli etc.  Since last year's devastating flood and heavy showers, the said portion of the highway was destroyed completely. It is very sad that the concerned authority did not pay heed to the grave condition of the important highway which links North Bengal and borderline areas of Bangladesh with entire Assam and other North-eastern States. And now the highway has become worse than a gravel road of a remote village. As regular commuters, we face a great hurdle to reach our destition overcoming the potholes on this highway. Heavy vehicles, small cars and bikes face tremendous problems. Sometimes ambulances get stuck in the pot-holes, damaging portions of the vehicle and bringing dire consequences to serious patients. So tiol Highway 31 is to be labeled as a death-trap. It has been noticed that the authority sometimes tries to repair the road by pouring sand gravels which get washed away due to rainfall, thus leaving the problem as it is.
