Online Classes | 17 May, 2020

Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to highlight the challenges that the teachers of our country are facing amid lockdown. For many of India's teachers, online classes amid lockdown have been an awful experience. As they are taking classes through various video calling apps but this has resulted in negative practices to some extent. Some students are not at all cooperating, logging in with fake names and locking teachers out of video calls. Also in recent weeks, You Tube has been flooded with videos of 'online classes gone wrong'. These show students smoking, playing abusive videos and many other such activities while teachers are trying to teach. Students are doubling down on their usual classroom naughtiness online now. Moreover, many teachers have been abruptly pushed into the uncharted 'online classes' since India went into lockdown on March 25 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As teachers are struggling to take control of the situation as unruly students are making the most out of this whole new experience.

Thus, the educators of our country have now come under tremendous stress are excessively exhausted. The COVID-19 lockdown will surely end someday. However, their stresses and scars will remind India's school teachers of their own coronavirus battle for a long time to come.
