Questions that Sonowal must answer

Union Minister for Port, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonwal making promise that the bridge connecting Majuli and Jorhat will be completed in four years has only left many questions unanswered than the answer to the question when the construction would be completed. He owes an explanation, as to why the construction of the bridge could not be completed over the past five years during his tenure as the chief minister. While the incumbent State Government has put in place a mechanism of monitoring the progress of the construction work every month, what did Sonowal do for monitoring the progress of the bridge work in his tenure. Sonowal, who has been elected as the legislator of Majuli twice, needs to answer what step he had taken to ensure safe commuting of residents of his constituency across the River Brahmaputra and why prohibition on plying of the single-engine ferries could not be enforced even though it was a decision of his own government. Two Ro-pax ferries launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi being kept idle also demands the former Chief Minister to explain why he had failed to check such irregularities of the Inland Water Transport Department that compelled residents of and visitors to Majuli to undertake unsafe journey on prohibited single-engine ferry. Sonowal must answer these questions in order to establish his claim about his commitment to Majuli and its residents.
