Registration of voters

The Election Commission of India has engaged National Voter Service Portal (NSVP) for the voters to register and make necessary corrections to voter ID card. A voter can register to the portal and proceed accordingly with necessary online forms for registration, correction and deletion to update the details required. The facility is of immense help to all the voters owing to ease of access through online mode and hassle-free update of voter details for the purpose of new registration.

Further for the online forms such as new registration form, correction to existing details and migration to another constituency details are available in both English and regional languages i.e. a bi-lingual input form. However, one faces an inconvenience to fill and register the form available in both English and Regional Language which updates the user data simultaneously. Owing to this, the English version over writes the regional version in the form leading to discrepancy in user details as displayed in the final output.

Hence ECI is suggested to enable only anyone language as an option (including English) on NSVP portal to update the vote registration details, instead of the current bi-lingual application form. The suggestion will help ECI to register voter ID cards without any discrepancy w.r.t voter’s details in the EPIC card and will also facilitate smooth and error free registration by voters online.
