‘Role of police’ in cattle smuggling

‘Role of police’ in cattle smuggling

For quite some time past the theft and smuggling of cows to Bangladesh has been rocking the state. We the conscious people of Assam have been in a state of shock noticing the large-scale theft of cows from the cow sheds of the poor farmers of Assam. We were happy when we observed that a good number of trucks carrying cows for smuggling to the Bangladesh being intercepted by our police force. But suddenly we notice slackening of grip of our police and again cases of theft and ferrying the cows to Bangladesh are increasing, still we were never suspicious about the integrity of our police-force. But in the evening news telecast by our electronic channel showed a news item as to how our police collect money from trucks carrying cows for smuggling. Are the policemen collecting money from cow thieves with blessing from their higher-ups? If not, police officials at the helm of affairs should take steps to arrest all the culprits, to parade them on the roads with hand-cuff. Because these black ships (corrupt police) are enemies of the nation. Bangladesh enriches its exchequer at the cost of India as the beef and hides exported to countries of Europe and other western countries fetch Bangladesh a substantial foreign exchange which otherwise should have come to India’s coffers. We may add that our neighbouring Bangladesh is fast emerging as ‘Asian Tiger’ in economies as per the latest review of the World Bank. Earlier Hong-Kong, South-Korea, Singapore and Taiwan were said to be Asian Tigers in economies. As per data of the World Bank, the financial growth of Bangladesh this year is estimated at 7.2%. The phenomenon implies that the speeches of our Prime Minister and other Union ministers are only ‘Rosy Promise’ to adorn the papers.
