The end of Lockdown 4.0

The fourth phase of the nationwide lockdown is ending on May 31, and opinion is divided as to whether it should be extended. The fact is that lockdown or no lockdown, Indians have reached a tipping point. With a gradual lifting of the lockdown for the sake of the economy, there is restlessness. Many are venturing out of their homes on flimsy grounds. Social distancing has become a joke now and people are feigning ignorance. As the month of May is coming to an end, Indians on social media are speculating if the nationwide lockdown will be extended further. As the government considers a fifth phase of lockdown, social media is abuzz with memes and jokes. What is sure, however, is that people cannot stay on lockdown for extended periods of time. Periodic cycles of lockdown must become the order of the day.
