Fragrances From the NE: Film festival in Pune to feature cinematic talent from the region

GUWAHATI: Pune is all set to host the fifth edition of "Fragrances from the North East - A Film Festival." The inaugural ceremony will be scheduled at NFAI, Law College Road Pune on February 14, Friday at 6 PM. Showcasing cinematic talents from various regions of the Northeast, the festival will feature 16 films from the region from various categories.

The attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy a cultural festival and relish delicacies from the north-eastern cuisine. The entry to the festival is free, as stated by the organizers. The National Film Archive of India will host the festival.

The festival will wind up on February 16, 2020. Various filmmakers from the Northeast region are expected to grace the festival.

Awards will be given in the following categories:

Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Actress (Feature), Best Actor (Feature), Best Supporting Actress (Feature), Best Supporting Actor (Feature), Best Screenplay, Best Screenplay (unproduced), Best Short, Best Director of a Short, Best Actress (Short), Best Actor (Short), Best Supporting Actress (Short), Best Supporting Actor (Short), Best Documentary and Audience Choice Awards.

For a fact, GQ India named Rima Das as one of the Most Influential Young Indians of 2018. She is one of the Brand Ambassadors of Toronto International Film Festivals ‘Share Her Journey’ campaign that champions the cause of gender equality in cinema. She has been on the jury for the prestigious section at Mumbai International Film Festival and Zlin Film Festival for Children & Youth. Currently, Rima Das also manages Mumbai-based production house, Flying River Films which supports local and independent filmmakers in the region. (IANS)
