GUWAHATI, May 15: Indian Railways, in a leap forward, has connected Northeast to West Coast (Mumbai/Gujarat) by commencing operations of running a PCET (Parcel Cargo Express Train) for transportation of Agricultural produce of Northeast (pineapple, ginger, turmeric, tea, cane, wax) and industrial finished goods from New Guwahati Yard (NGC), Guwahati to Kalyan (Maharastra).

The PCET will run between New Guwahati Yard/Guwahati/Assam and Kalyan/Maharastra, initially twice in a month. The maiden run is scheduled on May 17, 2018, a press release said. PCET is a unique arrangement where even very small quantity of goods can be easily booked to destinations. The train runs on a definite path, is accorded top most operational; priority and rates are cheaper than other modes, the release added.
