40 BPL Trainees From Guwahati Offered Job Letters

GUWAHATI: Forty trainees of a ‘Machine Operator – Plastic Recycling Course’ at Central Institute of Plastic Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Guwahati who belong from underprivileged section of the society have been offered jobs in prominent plastic companies based in Guwahati and Haryana. The 33 male and seven female trainees, including a physically-handicapped trainee, successfully completed the five-month long residential course at the institute as the first batch and were handed over job offer letters on October 18, 2019 during a programme organized at the Plastic Waste Management Centre (PWMC) of the institute. S Manchanda, executive director (Guwahati Refinery), and K J Ghai, director & head, CIPET Guwahati, handed over the job offer letters to the trainees during the programme. Guwahati Refinery has sponsored the course as well as the students under its CSR initiatives.

While speaking during the programme, Manchanda congratulated the trainees as well as the faculty members of the institute for the successful achievement. He appreciated the sincerity of the faculty members and the students towards the course and said that the knowledge gathered during the trainings will help the trainees to edge past obstacles in their career and shine. Anjana Baruah Sarmah, chief general manager- Human Resources (Guwahati Refinery), also provided valuable guidance to the trainees while appreciating their feat. During the programme, the trainees also expressed their gratitude to Guwahati Refinery for furnishing the opportunities, a press release stated.

During the programme, Manchanda also handed over single-use plastic wastes collected at the Refinery and its townships to CIPET Guwahati for recycling as part of observance of ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’. The programme was also attended by senior officials of the Refinery, officials and staff from PWMC-CIPET Guwahati.
