OUR CORRESPONDENT

DIMORIA: The All Dimoria Regional Committee of the AASU and the students’ union representing the tea community on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Circle Officer of Sonapur Revenue Circle, Jennifer Yasmin, opposing the move to set up a tollgate at Nazirakhat on NH-37 at Sonapur. Secretary of Kamrup (Metro) District Students’ Union Dibyajyoti Medhi said since the National Highway Authority of India has failed to execute its job to repair and maintain the highway from Khanapara to Sonapur, it has no right to set up any tollgate at Nazirakhat. He said poor condition of NH-37 on the Sonapur stretch is the reason behind the increasing number of road accidents. The Circle Officer assured the students of taking up the matter with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the DC of Kamrup (Metro) district.
